Work you'll do

The DevOps group is responsible for delivering DevOps services which accelerate the delivery of both revenue-generating and internal applications. We support software development while applying strategic and approved practices to streamline and fully automate the release management pipeline. We are developing and supporting innovative solutions that leverage the latest technologies in open source and the cloud and building a team of top-notch DevOps Engineers to create our next generation platforms.

DevOps manages the application lifecycle management (ALM) tools that underpin all DevOps services and enable an efficient hybrid business/IT software delivery model. In your role as a DevOps Lead, you will be responsible for the selection and implementation of tools and processes which enable rapid development and deployment of software. Your mission is to embrace continuous integration/deployment in a delivery pipeline that will perform automated quality checks, deploy cloud infrastructure and applications quickly, and provide operational metrics that can be consumed by development teams. This role will have a blend of development and operational experience that provides a good understanding of the developers you are working with, while also balancing customer satisfaction and maintaining critical systems uptime.

In addition, the individual will be expected to:

  • Lead a global team of DevOps Engineers responsible for delivering and maintaining multiple applications within your portfolio
  • Prioritize commitments and deliverables across several applications within your portfolio
  • Engineer and implement solutions and provide recommendations for continuous improvement for the services provided
  • Collaborate with application teams and DevOps leadership to ensure your portfolio is appropriately staffed
  • Establish an automated DevOps release management pipeline which delivers tooling for next generation application development efforts and on-going production operations.
  • Ensure development teams are provided a full set of DevOps ALM tools by leading the establishment of the right tooling and processes that will result in a fully automated release management pipeline to include: the Automated build process, environment setups, testing scripts, deployments, and production operational metrics/debugging information (to target developers).
  • Partner with development and operations teams to develop practical automation solutions and custom modules. Troubleshoot automation issues and find practical solutions that move projects forward in a timely manner.
  • Be a trusted automation and tooling advisor for DevOps initiatives by providing objective, practical and relevant ideas, insights and advice.
  • Plan, organize, and control multiple responsibilities to achieve project objectives; technically guide projects through to completion. Ensure deliverables are completed within target timeframes and are consistently of high-quality.
  • Work with teams to bring continuous improvement to ALM processes and tools. Develop and own KPIs to ensure performance is measured against expected business outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field, and 10 year’s related experience as a DevOps or systems administrator/engineer in a 24x7 uptime environment. 
  • At least 7 year’s system administration and management experience. Expert knowledge of system administration and security protocols for client/server environment deployed using Cloud based IaaS and PaaS solutions on Windows platforms.
  • Solid understanding and experience working with high availability, high performance, multi-data center systems and hybrid cloud environments
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot complex issues ranging from system resources to application stack traces
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration of web services
  • Experience with Git version control systems
  • Experience in development with scripting languages, preferably PowerShell and/or Bash
  • Experience with Azure cloud IaaS and PaaS solutions
  • Experience working in an agile development team which requires the database design and architecture to adapt to changing business needs
  • Experience with MS-Office products to build presentations using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience in managing high availability, high performance, multi-data center systems and hybrid cloud environments
  • Experience managing CI/CD infrastructure using Azure DevOps SonarQube, Fortify, and UFT, including patching and security updates on the infrastructure.
  • Experience in building and deploying Azure or AWS services
  • Strong knowledge in encryption, IPsec, VLANs, VPNs, routing, firewalls, proxy services, LAN/WAN connectivity

Preferred Experience: 

  • MS or higher in Computer Science
  • Demonstrated competencies in; system administration, DevOps or systems knowledge, security protocols for client/server environment
  • Experience working with cloud based IaaS and PaaS solutions on a windows platform
  • Open Source/Linux experience
  • Experience supporting the following Datastores/Databases: MS-SQL server, MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Cassandra
  • Hands-on experience working on Windows, and Linux distributions (CentOS and Ubuntu)
  • Hands-on experience with containers and container platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • At least 7 years of hands-on experience with MS Azure technologies or equivalent, specifically ARM templates and deployment scripting
  • At least 7 years of hands-on CI/CD engineering experience working with scripting and build management tools for a variety of frameworks and technologies, including Angular, React, Java, C#/.NET, Bash, Groovy, Gradle, and Maven
  • Knowledge and experience with Hadoop, Databricks
